Itagar, April 4: The youths of Piyong circle and All Aruchal Pradesh Contractor Welfare Association (AAPCWA) along with Panchayats, All msai Area Youth Association (AYA), district students union and Gaon Burahs from Piyong, mpoong and Ningroo Chariali came down heavily on a unknown private firm for carrying out earth cutting and digging out road shoulders along msai-Diyun road to lay optical fiber. The firm has completely damaged the road and also has removed milestones from many strategic locations, informed a communiqué. Various organizations of the district appealed the PWD chief engineer (Eastern zone) to halt the work carried out by the firm immediately and investigate the matter, as to why the digging was carried out in a haphazard way and under whose authority. As per PWD norms and guidelines, minimum of 1.5 m from the head road to both sides has to be normally left out but the firm without following the guidelines carried out the digging to lay the optical fiber which has left the condition of msai-Diyun road very deplorable.

The firm has covered the road in such a manner and the rain pouring in heavily for last few days has made matter worse, as it is reported that many vehicles are stuck there for last couple of days. AAPCWA president Chow Kungkham Hopak and Member Piyong youth circle, Chow Pingkham Khamhoo, registering their protest urged the PWD authorities to take stringent action against the firm for damaging public property and asked the concerned to repair the work within a month with proper erection of all the damaged milestones or to face democratic movement of various organizations in the district. Road erosions in many areas along the road have taken a bad shape causing many accidents, added the communiqué.
