Daredevils, RCB seek consistency in form

New Delhi, April 25: Initial strugglers Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will aim at maintaining their surge in form when they play against each other in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the Ferozeshah Kotla here on Sunday.

Both teams struggled to hit form early with Delhi losing both their opening encounters and RCB maging just a win from their first three matches.

But they have gained confidence after their wins in their last matches.

While Delhi defeated Mumbai Indians to end a nine match losing streak at their home ground since 2013, RCB bounced back with a win against league leaders Rajasthan Royals at Ahmedabad.

The outcome of the match will also result in a reshuffling of the league table with a Delhi win ebling them to be level on points with second-placed Cheni Super Kings (eight points from five matches).

A win for sixth-placed RCB will eble them to join third positioned Kolkata Knight Riders (six points from five games) and fourth-placed DD (six from six).

Both teams have shown flickers of their considerable promise with young Shreyas Iyer impressing for Delhi, becoming the team’s leading run-getter with 227 runs.

But they would hope that skipper Jean Paul Duminy and Yuvraj Singh contribute more consistently in their push for a semi-fil spot.

The team’s bowling has been led by the leg spin duo of South African Imran Tahir and Amit Mishra. They have worked in tandem superbly to emerge as the most potent spin bowling unit of the competition.

Tahir is the tourment’s leading wicket-taker with 13 scalps.

RCB, led by Delhi boy Virat Kohli, will hope that batting dashers like Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers will do justice to their mes and fire in unison to secure them a crucial victory. (IANS)
