Darrang bandh passes off peacefully

MANGALDAI, Dec  30:  The Prabojon Birodhi Mancha sponsored 12-hour Darrang bandh passed off peacefully in Darrang district on Wednesday without any untoward incident.  The PBM had given the bandh call in protest against the Hetou Chapori incident near Mangaldai on December 29 where a total of five persons from both the groups were injured. Several organizations mely Hindu Jagaran Manch, Akhil Bharatiya Bidyarthi Parishad, All Assam Bengali Yuba Chatra Parishad also extended full support to the bandh. However, the police today rounded up five bandh supporters in Mangaldai. All the government offices, business establishments  remained close during the bandh while all the vehicles were off the road.
