Darrang district administration conducts eviction drive against illegal encroachers

Our Correspondent

MANGALDAI: The Darrang district administration, taking a tough stand against the illegal encroachers on Thursday, conducted an eviction drive to clear the illegally occupied government lands near Commerce College campus here at Mangaldai.

During the eviction drive, a total of 25 families were evicted with the help of JCB and labourers. Significantly, during the eviction drive, it came to light that a good number of vested interest circles had illegally occupied the government land and constructed even permanent Assam-type dwelling houses which were inhabited by the tenants. However, not a single encroacher or the evicted family members raised any protest.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Hari Prasad Bora, assisted by Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ) Satyajit Nath and Circle Officer of Mangaldai Revenue Circle, Dipshikha Saikia, successfully conducted the eviction drive.
