Darrang district administration to take  tough stand against traffic rule violators

MANGALDAI, April 24: The civil administration, police and transport department in Darrang district have taken the pledge to reduce the traffic congestion in Mangaldai town and other prominent places of the district, and to reduce the road accident cases to zero with the cooperation of all sections of the society.

 Taking part in the country-wide celebration of the 29th Road Safety Week, 2018 as the chief guest here in Mangaldai on Monday, Darrang Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman expressed his deep concern over the alarmingly increase in the number of road accidents and said that the government would take serious action against the violators of Motor Vehicle Acts and traffic rules. With a view to minimize the problems of proper parking places in Mangaldai town, he informed that the proposed multi-storey parking place on the bank of Bor Pukhuri, though under construction, would be made open for the use of public within a very short period which would also make the ever busy LNB Road and BB Road a no-parking zone.

 To prevent the whimsical stoppage of commercial vehicles in different points of Mangaldai town, the commercial vehicles would be regulated at Block Chowk and at Saikiapara in the outskirts of Mangaldai town and the administration and the Transport department have also made arrangements for plying of Green Taxi in Mangaldai town area.  Taking part in the function organized at the office complex of the District Transport Officer here, Darrang Superintendent of Police Sreejith Thiraviam reiterated the commitment of the police to take strict action against traffic rule violators and apprised that with a view to monitor the movement of all vehicles, the district police have already installed internet protocol camera with high resolution in various locations.

 Additional Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Chakravarty, Circle Officer of Mangaldai Revenue Circle Deep Sikha Saikia, and Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ) Amit Hojai also addressed the function largely attended by bus owners, a number of drivers and conductors, students.
