Darul Uloom and Dastarbandi function held at Banskandi

FROM A Correspondent

Silchar, May 10: “Technology driven education and learning is not proper, true or pure education. It is advisable not to depend too much on laptops for gathering knowledge. A student, to receive proper education, should physically go to a teacher instead of depending on technology and internet. It is wise to attend classes instead of searching each and everything on the net,” said Islamic scholar Maula Yosuf Saheb at the recently held Darul Uloom Emi Jalsha and Dastarbandi function at Banskandi. He further said Islam does not prohibit anyone from using laptops but it adheres to the basic principles of gathering knowledge and learning.

“Internet can definitely translate the holy scriptures into English within split seconds. However, the true essence of the scriptures cannot be felt then. Moreover, if laptops do it for the students, then how will the students learn? It is not true knowledge. True knowledge consists of sacrifice, dedication, devotion and hard work on the part of the students. There is no altertive to it. Laptops should be used sparingly,” Maula Yosuf Saheb added to say. Speaking as the chief-guest on the occasion, Maula sir Billa Makkhi of Saudi Arabia, too threw light on similar things and opined that only hard work could bring fruitful results.

“Islam has reached almost every nook and corner of the world. Though the religion is just 1400 years old, it has already made a mark. The main reason behind this successful spread of Islam is that its educatiol policy and setup is flawless. It is my earnest request that we should preserve our religion and follow the path of righteousness, mortality and humanity,” said Maula sir Billa Makkhi. Thousands of people who have come from all the parts of the district attended the function and made it a successful one. Darul Uloom Madrassa was established in the year 1856.

It is one of the largest Madrassas in the entire northeast region. It was founded by Maula Munshi Akbar Ali. Every session 1200 students are admitted. There are 120 teaching and non- teachings staffs. Maula Sheikh Yahya is the present principal of the Madrassa. The well-known Islamic thinker and spiritual leader, Maula Ahmed Sayeed Gobindapuri said that Islam aims at fostering world peace. “People belonging to all the religions of the world should live and work united so that the country’s development is not hindered. United we stand, divided we fall. Youths and students should cooperate and work together. Only education will not serve the purpose, one should always do something for the betterment of the society,” he added to say. He also laid emphasis on the value of knowing Economics, Science, English and Mathematics. A prayer session was also held for world peace.
