Silchar, May 1: 35 graduates received their convocation at the Darul Uloom Enami Jalsha and Dastarbandi function at Baskandi which was held recently. Darul Uloom Madrassa was established in the year 1897. It is one of the largest Madrassas in the entire northeast region. It was founded by Maulana Munshi Akbar Ali. Every session 1000 students are admitted. There are 55 teaching and non teachings staffs. Maulana Sheikh Yahya is the present principal of the Madrassa. Speaking as the chief-guest on the occasion, Maulana Mufti Rashid Chaheb Azmi said there is a wrong notion regarding Madrassas that people and children are trained to become terrorists and anti social elements.

“This is completely false. Madrassas focus on education with character development, educational development and spiritual development,” he said. Darul Uloom is also one of the best educational institutions of the country. Islam, in fact, has reached almost every nook and corner of the world. Though the religion is just 1400 years old, it has already made a mark. The main reason behind this successful spread of Islam is that its educational policy and setup is flawless. Islamic thinker and scholar Maulana Ahmed Sayeed Gobindapuri urged upon all to preserve their religion and follow the path of righteousness, mortality and humanity. Thousands of people who have come from all the parts of the district attended the function and made it a successful one. Maulana Ahmed Sayeed Gobindapuri said, “People belonging to all the religions of the world should live and work united so that the country’s development is not hindered. United we stand, divided we fall. Youth and students should cooperate and work together. Only education will not serve the purpose, one should always do something for the betterment of the society,” he added to say. A prayer session was also held for world peace.
