Day-long programme on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

Boko, April 20: As a part of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan from April 14 to May 5, Kamrup Zilla Water and Toilet Committee, along with the Boko Subdivisional Public Health, organized a day-long programme on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti. On the occasion, Kamal Kumar Baishya, Kamrup rural Deputy Commissioner inaugurated the construction of a latrine in the house of Pranita Rabha at Tepchiya village to be constructed by Boko Public Health Department. After that many workers of various NGOs and officers of district administration swept the Boko 30-bedded hospital and its complex and took out a rally to create awareness on the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

 Finally, it concluded at Boko Chilarai Bhavan, where the Kamrup DC rural, Boko constituency MLA Nandita Das and Siddharta Goswami, Circle Officer, Boko, took part in tree plantation programme. After that a street play was staged to create awareness about cleanliness. An awareness meeting was also held on this occasion which was presided by veteran social worker Khiroda Deka of Tepchiya village and conducted by Babul Boro, SDO, Boko Subdivisional Public Health Department.

In the awareness meeting, Kamal Kumar Baishya, DC of Kamrup (rural), spoke about Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and other programmes started in total 160 villages in Kamrup rural district. MLA of Boko constituency, Nandita Das said, “Cleanliness should be a part of our duty.” Babul Boro, SDO, Boko Public Health Department, said, “We will launch cleanliness drive in total 140 villages in Boko area before May 5.”
