DC orders action against dishonest LPG agencies

GOLAGHAT, June 27: The Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat ordered the Food and Civil Supplies Department of Golaghat to take action against the individuals and LPG Vitarak agencies who were dishonest in providing free LPG connection to beneficiaries. In a press statement, Sub-Inspector of Food and Civil Supplies of Golaghat, Mriganka Krishna Gogoi said that various allegations had been raised in distribution of free LPG connection to benefices under the PMUY scheme. A section of dishonest agencies and individuals collected Rs. 1,000 to Rs 1,200 from beneficiaries in the name of providing LPG connection, whereas Rs. 1500 and Rs. 1000 had been borne by the Central and State governments.

Deputy Commissioner Gourav Bothra instructed the Food and Civil Supplies Department of Golaghat to take legal action against those who collected money from beneficiaries in providing LPG connection under PMUY scheme in Golaghat district. The district administration has taken initiative to provide caste certificate to the tea garden workers and ex-tea garden workers in order to receive LPG connection easily. Mriganka Krishna Gogoi also informed that out of 79,169 beneficiaries, 47,089 beneficiaries had already received the benefits of PMUY scheme.
