DCW summons to Delhi Police on 'crucial data'

New Delhi, Feb 2: The DCW has issued summons to Delhi Police over non-compliance with its requests for “crucial data” on crime against women and directed Police Commissioner Bhim Sain Bassi to appear before it on February 8. The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) sent a letter to the Delhi Police on August 1, 2015, followed by another letter dated October 10, 2015 seeking “certain crucial data from the Delhi Police”. It again sent notice to the police on January 11 and January 27 this year. “The commission takes strong note of the fact that despite sending various letters and notices... and despite the passage of several months, you have unjustifiably failed to provide crucial information sought by the commission, which is imperative for the commission on the issue of women safety and safeguards for women in Delhi,” the summons dated February 1 said.  (IANS)
