dda launches construction of gaon Medical College

GAON (HAIBORGAON), Feb 18: The construction work of gaon Medical College and Hospital was formally started with ‘Bhumi Puja’ being attended by Union Health Minister JP dda in gaon’s Mohkhuli under Borhampur LAC.

Soon after iugurating the construction work, dda, in his address said, “Prime Minister rendra Modi has accorded priority to the quick development of entire Northeastern region. For boosting the healthcare sector in Assam, the Central government has already sanctioned Rs 756 crore for gaon, Dhubri, Lakhimpur and Diphu medical colleges.”

He stated that patients in the State can undergo various tests free of cost in these medical colleges situated at district headquarters.

dda further said the government will make medical colleges in Guwahati and Dibrugarh a super special block and for that the Union government will sanction Rs 190 crore soon.

State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in his speech, said, “We have been striving hard to begin construction of the proposed medical college at gaon, and today we have got that opportunity.” Sarma also thanked former chief minister PK Mahanta for reserving the land here for the district hospital.

The State Health Minister declared that people of 27 districts will get the benefits of free CT scan, X-ray and blood test in all district medical colleges, and the State government will provide new machineries for this purpose to the hospitals soon.

Besides dda and Sarma, Railway Minister of State Rajen Gohain, Borhampur MLA Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, State Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta and other BJP MLAs of the district were present in the ‘Bhumi Puja’ ceremony.
