Debate on Arunachal and democracy held by Himalayan University

ITANAGAR: Diana Mum Tamuk and Millo Munya were adjudged the winners of a debate competition conducted on Thursday by Himalayan University on the topic "Has Arunachal Truly Evolved As A Vibrant Democracy Since the Last 32 Years". Twenty one students participated in the competition. Meanwhile, Omen Pangam and Likha Raja were awarded as the runners-up of the debate. During the debate, participants highlighted various issues and expressed their opinions on the issue. Addressing the students on the occasion, Registrar of the University Dr Vivek Mittal, said, "Debate is a sport which sharpens one's analytical, critical, and quick thinking, persuasive speaking, note-taking, speed reading, and in-depth research skills." He further said that we are living in the largest democracy of the world and it is our duty to keep its sanctity by keeping our election free and fair. Participants debating for the motion said that Arunachal Pradesh has evolved as a vibrant State; urbanization has increased, education level has increased and living standards too have increased.
