Deborah Ch Marak ready to face challenges

 Staff Correspondent

Shillong, April 7: Congress candidate and three time MLA from Williamgar Deborah Ch Marak stated that the multiple factors will come into play in the adjourned poll scheduled polls on April 27, even as she said that there is no space for complacency at this juncture.
Marak is contesting on a Congress ticket from Williamgar, a constituency that witnessed the tragic death of the NCP candidate Jothan Sangma in an IED blast just ahead of the regular polls in February this year.
Speaking to The Sentinel Marak was candid in accepting that the anti-incumbency factor will be one of the factor that made her to toil hard. “I have not been sitting idle in the past five years. I have been working hard but I can’t afford to be complacent,” she said , besides adding that it is very challenging for the sitting legislator to really tell the people about the job that was done. Going by the reported pulse of the people, Deborah Ch Marak will have a tough time because the sympathy factor will be translated into votes for the widow of Jothan Sangma. The wife of the slained NCP candidate is in the fray for the adjourned election to the Williamgar seat.
Yet, as per another school of thought the scramble for votes by the non-Congress parties will favour the Congress candidate. The UDP,BJP,NPP have their own candidates in this seat. Asked on this, the sitting legislator said, “For anyone  who is vying to win, there will be challenges, but they should be overcome”.
