Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to celebrate Diwali in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will celebrate Diwali, the festival of lights with Forward Troops in Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh on November 7 next.

In this remote part of the country, there are military posts still separated from the nearest road head by a distance of 30 to 35 kilometers, a defence communiqué informed here on Sunday. The sparsely populated area has the average density of about one man per kilometre.

Infrastructure has been a major challenge in the area and a major push has been given to taking the road to the forward areas in recent years.

The Defence Minister will also review the progress of the development of the infrastructure including defence preparedness in the area, the communiqué added.
