Delay in probe: Jaintia students meet DSP

SHILLONG, Jan 11: The Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF) and Jaintia Student Union (JSU) today met the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), West Jaintia Hills District seeking clarification on the delay to complete the investigation regarding the alleged misappropriation of funds by the Ex CEM JHADC Madonbai Rymbai.
It may be mentioned that an RTI filed by one Arlin Dkhar from Khliehtyrshi village had exposed misappropriation of Rs 1.18 crore by the CEM of JHADC. According to the RTI reply, Rs 1.18 crore which include Discretiory Grant of Rs 66 lakh and Gratuity Relief of Rs 52.50 lakh were released to the CEM during May – December, 2013.
The DSP said, “We have completed interrogating all the suspects involved in the misappropriation of funds; however the only thing left now is to get the prosecution sanction from the government in order to forward the matter to court.”
The two NGOs have stated that they will continue to pursue the case until justice is given.
