Delhi Witnesses Deteriorating Air Condition, Expected to Worsen on December 2

Guwahati: Life in the national capital has been unbearable and much more complicated now as the growing pollution and dust has made even difficult for the residents to breath air in. With face masks and air purifiers becoming a common sight in the streets and houses of Delhi, it can very well be speculated how much more polluted the city has been now.

Dust and a sort of misty blanket keep the city covered in the daylight which even makes it difficult for the vehicles to commute on the road fearing accidents. This has been a daily routine in the metro city since a coup0le of months and as forecasted by the state-run System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), there is no improvement in the situation so far. The quality of air is as worst as it was before and in fact, there are chances of the air quality to even deteriorate on December 2.

SAFAR states, "There is no system building up as surface winds are south-westerly. However, air quality is likely to deteriorate significantly on December 2 as a cloudy condition and decline in temperature are likely to bring down inversion layer to trap pollutants. The contribution from stubble biomass is nil."

A Noida resident, Anand Sharma, said: "There is a dire need to do something substantial in order to combat the increasing crisis of air pollution. All my family member especially aged are wearing masks and are avoiding outdoor activities because of the toxic air."

Another woman, who works as a domestic help in the city says that all three children of her are suffering from respiratory disease. She added that heaps of garbage are being burnt near their school on daily bases which is also causing them breathing trouble. She, henceforth, has requested the government to take necessary action in the matter and save the lives of the poor.

In keeping with the deteriorating air condition in the city and in general, a particular tool, named Air Quality Life Index (AQLI) has been launched by the University of Chicago. This is shocking and terrible at the same time to hear it that as per a revelation of weather experts, the prevailing dust and polluted condition of the city will cost its residents 10.2 years of their lives.
