Demand for another doctor at Mawlai CHC

SHILLONG, May 22: Local MDC of Mawlai constituency PT Sawkmie has urged upon the State government to appoint another doctor at CHC Mawlai Mawiong Umjapung noting that there is only one doctor at the health center.

It may be mentioned that on May 20, Sawkmei along with women and youth wing members of Mawlai Block Congress, Headman A. Kharkongor had inspected the CHC in the presence of Dr W.M. Kharlukhi, in-charge of the health Centre.

“I want to request the State government to appoint another doctor at this CHC so that better health care can be provided to the people. The doctor in-charge along with his staff should also work diligently to serve the needs of the people,” Sawkmie said.

He observed that many patients visit the CHC during night hours for treatment. However, since there is only one doctor at the health centre, it is uble to meet the needs of the people adequately.

Meanwhile, Dr W.M. Kharlukhi informed that patients from far and near visit the CHC for treatment. There is also a separate room for TB patients.
