Demand to declare Assam a dry State

JORHAT, April 3: Several organizations led by All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) blocked the busy Jorhat-Borhulla inter-State road to pressurize the administration to stop the sale of liquor and to declare Assam as a dry State like Bihar and galand. Long-distance vehicles were stranded near Madhopur in Jorhat district for several hours due to the strike on Tuesday.

The organizations demanded closure of liquor shops and to declare Assam a dry state as the sale of liquor was increasing in every nook and corner and consumption of liquor by teegers was also on the rise due to which hundreds of families were facing problems.
