Demand to declare Baitho Puja  as local holiday

DHEMAJI, Feb 8: The All Assam Sonowal Kachari Students' Union (AASKSU) submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding that Khring Khring Baitho Puja should be declared as a local holiday. Sonowal Kachari is the third largest community of Assam. AASKSU Dhemaji district president Mridul Sonowal and secretary in-charge Parikshit Sonowal submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal demanding that Baitho Puja be declared as a local holiday. Baitho Puja is a big festival for the Sonowal Kachari community. They also urged the Government of Assam to strengthen the Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council and to sanction fincial grants for the improvement of bajyoti Kachari Boys' Hostel and Tribal Guest House of Dhemaji. They expressed resentment at the sluggish progress of Dhemaji Engineering College. They requested the government to complete the work soon so that students could be admitted from the next season. They also urged the Chief Minister to give appointment to the TET passed ST students and to ensure completion of the Chamarajan Guide bundh before the monsoon season.
