Demand to me Bogibeel Bridge

GOLAGHAT, April 9: The activists of All Golaghat District Chutia Students’ Union (AGDCSU) staged protest near the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Monday in support of the demand to me the Bogibeel Bridge as Biranga Sadhani Setu and to declare Biranga Sadhani Divas as government holiday.

The president and secretary of the organization, Papu Saikia and Ritu Saikia said that the Chutia community was a one of the indigenous communities of Assam. But this community had been deprived politically and socially after the independence of the country. The BJP government allegedly ignored to resolve the problems of the community and to honour the forefathers of the community.

 The AGDCSU also said that State Government should show respect to the people of the Chutia community by ming the Bogibeel Bridge as Biranga Sadhani Setu. Further, they regretted that the government till date had not declared State holiday on the occasion of Biranga Sadhani Divas. Later, they submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister in this regard.
