Desang Utsav kicks off on a colourful note

SIVASAGAR, Jan 8: The versatility of art and culture of various community of North East and other parts of the state would be seen in ‘Desang Utsav-2016’ that began here at Sudhakantha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and Gashilpi Bikran Sing Yein Sammay Khetra at Desangmukh from Thursday.

Being organized by the people of greater Desangmukh in collaboration with Mising Autonomous Council, the event was iugurated on Thursday by Hem Kanta Pegu, Additiol Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar.

The three-day event is all about various folk arts and culture altogether under one roof. The three-day event will continue till January 9.

ADC Pegu iugurated the event by lighting the lamp. While addressing the gathering on the occasion, Pegu said that the folk art and culture of Desangmukh are an inspiration in its own way. “The more it will be promoted by organizing such events the more our tradition and culture will get stronger,” said Pegu.

On the occasion, a souvenir titled ‘Xuaroni Desangmukh’, edited by Anil Panging, was released by former president of Axom Xahitya Xabha Imran Shah.

Maneswar Mili, general member of 34 No. Desang-Dikhow constituency of Mising Autonomous Council, senior jourlists MI Bora and Jamaluddin Ahmed were also present at the iugural event.
