Devastating fire destroys 70 thatched houses in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh: One person was admitted at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) with 80 per cent burn injury and at least 70 thatched houses of BPL people were burnt to ashes following a major fire that broke out at Loharpatty. The cause of the devastating fire is yet to be ascertained. According to sources, property worth more than Rs 2 lakh was destroyed in the fire. The fire tender which rushed to the site immediately brought the fire under control after three hours battle.

Except 43 tarpaulins, nothing has been allegedly provided to the distressed people by the district administration. The local Diamond Club has been extending all support by supplying food and other materials.
