Development of Assam and BTC most vital: Hagrama

KOKRAJHAR, April 27: Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Hagrama Mohilary who is also the president of the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) on Friday said he was not adamant with the allocation of department to the newly inducted Ministers of Sarbananda Sonowal’s expanded ministry but wants their dedication for the development of Assam and Bodoland.

Talking to the reporters on the sideline of meeting of the Policy Making Body (PMB) of the BPF held at Bathou Complex, Kokrajhar today, Mohilary said he was satisfied with the expansion of State Ministry and allocation of department to the newly inducted ministers. He said that department was not a matter for the ministers but the need of the hour is dedicating themselves for the growth and development of Assam and the BTC region as well. He also said there was no reaction in his party on department allocation to BPF MLAs Pramila Rani Brahma, Chandan Brahma and Rihon Daimary and the party feels it is sufficient.

Mohilary said he had nothing to say on the reaction of Deori community that wanted a berth for their MLA but wants development of all communities in the State. He said the BTC will organize an open Bihu under the title ‘Bardwisikla’ at Bodofa Nwgwr, Kokrajhar in the interest of peace and unity among all sections of people on May 6. He said all communities would be invited to the open Bihu to strengthen the integrity and social fabric. He also said there would be a citizens’ meet in the celebration.

The PMB meeting was also attended by Ministers Pramila Rani Brahma, Rihon Daimary and other senior party leaders.
