Development of Dima Hasao changing rural lives

Haflong, March 7: Though the district of Dima Hasao had been in news for wrong reasons but the recent momentum in development in regards to B G Conversion and the East-West corridor including others sectors, a significant and encouraging changes in rural lives have been recorded, feel the conscious citizens of Dima Hasao.

It is said that the roads play a pivotal role in socio-economic development of the society. For some reasons both the tiol project which cover a major portion of the district of Dima Hasao delayed by several years following which the people of the district had to suffer a lot, said a local student leader.

“But with the normalcy returning to the district, the progress of these projects has been expediated remarkably. The Lumding-Silchar BG conversion is on the verge of completion within March 31 but the people are expecting the new trains from New Haflong to Guwahati and New Haflong to Dibrugarh to be started very soon since most of the major works have been completed only wait for the clearance from CRS,” he said.

The works of the East–West corridor are also being executed in war footing manner, right now all the vehicles from Barak Valley mostly run through this Express way following which the villagers adopted some measures for income generation by opening roadside dhaba and stalls, he said.

It may be mentioned that the N C Hills Autonomous Council is taking keen interest for the road connectivity giving top priority. The Haflong – Dihangi- Diyungmukh- Lanka road is also renovated. The NCHAC team led by Chief Executive Member, Debojeet Thaosen recently met Nitin Gadkari, Union transport minister who has assured them positively in New Delhi.

An elderly person of Nutan Leikul said this road has become a boon for us as the construction of this road has opened up some avenues for the rural people of our village for their daily earnings. The sale their products now at their doorsteps and need not go to the market to sale their products anymore.
