DFP's 'Save the Girl Child' campaign concludes

Itagar, March 15: The Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP), Tezu unit concluded its series of special awareness campaign “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” (“Save the girl child, educate the girl child”) at Meka village yesterday. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, General Secretary of Adi Bane Kebang (Women Wing) Oseng Apung Yirang stressed on the importance of educating girl child and its positive impact in the society, official sources informed here today. Expressing concern over declining female-male ratio in the state, she strongly appealed to the Panchayat leaders, villagers, youth and educated people of the society to take the matter seriously and work to arrest the declining sex ratio. Mihir Kumar Jha, unit in-charge, DFP Tezu unit also spoke during the programme and said that people should take responsibility to improve sex ratio and their education. Quiz Competitions about Beti Bachao Beti Padhao was also organized during the campaign and winners were given prizes. Gaon Burhas, Gaon Burhi and Anchal Samity Member were present in the programme, the sources added.
