Dhodar Ali to be upgraded to tiol highway: Tasa

Jorhat BJP celebrates Modi government's two years in power

Jorhat, June 10:  The Bharatiya Jata Party (BJP) has organized a public meeting at Tarajan tya Mandir here today to mark the completion of two years of Modi government in the Centre.

Over 500 peoples from different parts of the district took part in the programme held on the occasion. BJP MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Jorhat MLA Hitendra th Goswami were also present in the meeting.

MP Tasa in his speech said that the historic Dhodar Ali would be upgraded to tiol highway and the tiol Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has already completed its official works.

"We have decided to upgrade the historic Dhodar Ali to a tiol highway soon. The NHAI authorities have already completed all the required official works to make the declaration soon," said Tasa.

Tasa also said, "Our government will do lots of work for the development of the tion in the next three years. We will implement the 241 central schemes in the state properly in order to ensure development of the people living here. We are also committed to the people of the country to curb corruption in all sectors and we will try from our best to keep this commitment in the days to come."

The Dhodar Ali is a 212 km long historic road starts from Kamargaon in Golaghat district to Joypur in Dibrugarh district touching Mariani in Jorhat district. Ahom king Gadadhar Singha got the road constructed in 1687 AD.

Coming down heavily on Congress, Tasa said, "During the Congress rule in Assam in the last two years, we the seven BJP MPs from faced some difficulties to work for the people in Assam but after BJP came to power in the state it has been resolved."

He also vehemently criticized the activities of forest department during Congress rule in Assam. "We will work for protection and preservation of forest and wild lives in the state," he said.

In the meeting newly elected BJP MLA from Jorhat Hitendra th Goswami was felicitated by BJP workers and social organizations.  Goswami in his speech said, "The people of Assam have voted for us for a change and we are ready to work for the development of the people of the state for the change. We have already started our works like renovation, drinking water supply project, to construct a fly over at Ali railway crossing and construction of multi storied car parking at Jorhat town."
