DHUBRI, April 26: Bikash Sarma, a man always in action since he joined three years ago as the District Information and Public Relation Officer (DIPRO), was conferred with the Karmashree Award, 2018 recently on the occasion of Service Day by State Industry and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary on behalf of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati.

The award was conferred to Sarma in presence of former Governor of RBI, Y.V Reddy, Chief Secretary TY Das and Chief Information Commissioner Himangshu Sekhar Das. The programme held under the auspices of the State Administrative Reforms and Training Department.

He was awarded for excellence in public administration and he is the lone recipient of the award among the public relation officers in the State and also the first Dhubri District Information and Public Relation Officer.  The awards are conferred to the administrative officers who render outstanding service in their capacity, and this time out of 37 aspirants, only six were shortlisted for the awards and Bikash Sarma topped the list.

All other recipients of the awards were conferred either jointly or as a group but Bikash Sarma was the only officer awarded for his own works in the capacity of Dhubri District Information and Public Relation Officer. Sarma was awarded particularly for his creative works of audio-visual presentation on the history and heritage of Dhubri district last year, which was highly acclaimed in all circles.

Talking to The Sentinel, Sarma said that it was a satisfying moment for him as the award had recognized his works. “To me work is worship. This award will go a long away in inspiring me to do more creative works with sincerity and dedication. However, Dhubri district will always remain special to my heart as working here was a big challenge to me, but now I am experiencing a pleasant moment,” Sarma added.
