DHUBRI, April 27:  Dhubri Town Committee unit of the AGP submitted a memorandum to Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Anant Lal Gyani recently highlighting various problems afflicting the residents of the town. Gyani reportedly gave a patient hearing to the problems and assured the delegation appropriate action soon. In the memorandum, the district party leaders said that a flyover needed to be constructed at Senpara railway level crossing and unauthorized encroachment by  temporary stalls in front of Dhubri Civil Hospital, which have been causing  heavy traffic congestion during office hours, be evicted immediately.

Talking to The Sentinel, secretary of Dhubri AGP Town Committee, Simul Sarkar informed that the police should  streamline the traffic at the railway level crossing. But as no traffic police was deployed, the Senpara area has become highly accident prone while students, patients and regular commuters face immense problems on the dilapidated Station Road.

“Sufficient traffic police should be deployed at the railway level crossing during the  office hours. But to overcome this problem permanently, there is an urgent need for construction of a flyover there. We have already placed this demand before the Railway Divisional Manager, Alipurduar,” Sarkar added.

The memorandum also pointed out various traffic congested areas in the town like the area in front of Happy Convent School on GTB Road, M Bazar on HN Road and Bazar India on Station Road and demanded deployment traffic police in the areas for smooth run of vehicular traffic.

While demanding repairing of big pot holes in front of Vivekananda Vidyapith on RK Mission Road which leads to Dhubri Civil Hospital, B Ed College, Dhubri Stadium and All India Radio Station, the memorandum also demanded of the DC to construct all the roads and by-lanes  of Dhubri town which are no longer negotiable and motorable.
