Diamond jubilee celebration of UCC Golaghat

Golaghat, September 19: One of the oldest organizations of businessmen and traders in Assam, the United Chamber of Commerce (UCC) Golaghat which was established in the year 1954, celebrated its diamond jubilee with enthusiasm.

A grand ceremony was held on Monday at Amateur Theatre Society Auditorium in Golaghat. In the ceremony, Governor of Assam Banwarilal Purohit was the chief guest. The United Chamber of Commerce Golaghat  conferred  the Golaghat Rat award to veteran laureate , educationist and jourlist Dr gen Saikia and senior IAS officer and former Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat, Dr Ravi Kota.

Also a trilingual souvenir Buniyaad was unveiled on the occasion. Apart from these, seven persons from the district mely Horulora Neog ,  Bhola Saikia , Jamu Rabidas, Rani Kaur, Mridul Bora,  Phulkumari Rajak and Diganta Phukan were given fincial aid and  felicitated . The ceremony started with lightning of lamp by the Governor and Mangalcharan Vanda by the students of Vivekanda Kendra Vidyalaya. After that the Governor was given a warm felicitation by United Chamber of Commerce Golaghat president Apurba Ballav Goswami and secretary Dip Kalita. The Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat, Gaurav Bothra delivered the welcome speech. The programme was conducted by the secretary of the UCC Golaghat, Dip Kalita.
