Dibrugarh town lights up for Diwali celebration

Dibrugarh: The festival of lights, Diwali, has brought a new wave of enthusiasm among people. The prominent areas of the town, namely, RKB Path, Thana Charali, HS Road and New Market, came to life with colourful and vibrant lights adorning them. The celebrations began from Monday on the occasion of Dhanteras. Keeping with the norms, many people were seen buying valuables. Kids, under the supervision of guardians, were seen indulging in fireworks. The elders, besides enjoying their share of bursting of crackers, were busy making preparations for the worship of Goddess Lakshmi. Moreover, many sections of the society were also spotted making arrangements for observing Kali Puja, to be held on Tuesday night.

Like all other major events and festivals, the rush for Diwali has once again exposed the sorry side of the traffic management system of the town. While the government has been making tall claims with respect to the construction of state-of-the-art roads, the important subject of having adequate parking facilities often finds a place on the backburner. As reported earlier, the condition, if not addressed, is only going to get worse with the inauguration of the Bogibeel Bridge.
