“Did people vote us for this” asks PM Narendra Modi pointing at the Indore attack incident

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after coming to know about the incident of BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya thrashing a municipal officer in Indore, expresses his displeasure over the matter. Expressing his disappointment over the matter, Modi says that such behaviour from responsible citizens and party members is unacceptable.

Although Modi did not name the BJP MLA and his father who is also a senior BJP member, but his remarks make it clear as to whom he is talking about. Modi makes it clear that he had taken a very dim view of the BJP MLA’s conduct.

However, Akash was not present at the meeting, but his father and BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya was present at the meeting who could be noticed sitting in one of the back rows.

It was a meeting of BJP’s parliamentary party which also had lawmakers from the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha too present. The meeting took place on Tuesday when PM Modi referred to the video clip that went viral after the incident of Akash thrashing the municipal officer. Modi in his straight remark about the video, said, “I see people hitting them… Did people vote us for this.”

The Prime Minister also asked the party to identify local BJP leaders who could be seen participating in the assault. The BJP leaders celebrating Akash’s release from jail too are asked to be identified and remove from the party.

BJP president JP Nadda, made a note of the directives made by the Prime Minister.

BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy said, “The PM in BJP parliamentary party meeting today said any kind of misbehaviour that brings down party’s name is unacceptable. He said that action should be taken if someone has done something wrong. He also said that is applicable on everyone.”

PM Modi’s assessment of Akash’s conduct came following Akash’s father’s comment to the reporters yesterday when he had said that it was not a big issue. For him, both Akash and IMC (Indore Municipal Commission) commissioner are novices.
