DIGBOI, April 23: The incumbent MLA of Digboi, Suren Phukan suddenly collapsed due to high blood pressure during a public meeting at No. 2 Asomiya Gaon area under Digboi police station in Tinsukia district recently. Phukan, who was reportedly carrying out various developmental works relentlessly in his constituency, was addressing people after the inauguration of a new school classroom built out of MLA Local Area Developmental Fund for the FY 2017-2018. He was taken to a nearby private nursing home for treatment and was advised a day’s rest by the doctor. Phukan was earlier lauded by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for being the first among the BJP MLAs across the State to achieve 100 per cent in implementing and accomplishing various socio-economic schemes and projects allotted for the development of the people and the constituency.
