Digboi Youth allegedly abducted by armed militants in Jagun, Police suspect ULFA-I

Tinsukia: In yet another sensational incident, few suspected armed militants have allegedly abducted a youth from Jagun today evening at around 5.50 pm.

As per a report, the youth identified as Apurba Kakati, manager of a stone quarry in Jagun of Tinsukia district.

It is to be noted that Apurba Kakati is a resident of Digboi’s Ramnagar area. The stone quarry belongs to another Digboi based youth namely Bijoy Borah.

Speaking to The Sentinel Digital, Officer in charge of Police, Jagun Police Station, Pulak Kumar said, “We are yet to ascertain who were those armed militants as we have no updates in this regard. However, we have confirmed that the youth is a resident of oil town Digboi and was working as a manager at a stone quarry in Jagun area. As of now, we are suspecting the armed militants to be of outlawed faction ULFA-I are behind the incident. We have started our investigation.”

Recently, ULFA-I, Commander-in-Chief, Paresh Baruah’s nephew Munna Baruah also got disappeared a few days back from Digboi town.

Later, the Tinsukia Police and Assam Police Headquarters confirmed that the youth joined the outlawed faction ULFA-I.
