Dilapidated condition of Bebejia-Dolonghat road irks commuters

Batadrava, Feb 15: The indifferent attitude of the PWD, gaon division has put the Bebejia- Dolonghat connecting road (via Jajori) in shambles, as no repair and maintence work has been carried in the road for a long time.

Due to the bad condition of the Bebejia-Dolonghat Road, people are facing difficulties while travelling. A resident of Kujidah area said, “The road is in poor condition and due to the pathetic condition of the road, the commuters and pedestrians are facing inconvenience every day.”

 According to the residents of Bebejia, Kuruabahi, Kujidah, Jajori areas, the roads in their area are bumpy and dotted with potholes. They said, “Due to the bad condition of the road, the transporters sometimes even avoid plying their vehicles. The employees and students fail to make it to their work places and educatiol institutions respectively on time as the auto rickshaws barely ply on this dilapidated road.”  The residents further said that a number of auto drivers and bikers had lost their control on this road and scores of vehicles had been damaged. Sometimes, patients as well as pregnt women cannot reach the hospital on time due to bad condition of the road. Some locals said, “Before elections, the present MLA of Batadrava LAC had promised in several meetings that if she wins, she will reconstruct the road within a month. But till date not even a single stone has been touched.” Local people have sought immediate intervention of the State PWD minister and also the Chief Minister in this regard.
