Dima Hasao residents express happiness over declaration of new subdivision

Haflong, Jan 2: The residents of Diyungbra in particular and of Dima Hasao in general expressed their happiness following the Chief Minister’s declaration of new Civil sub-Division in Dima Hasao with its headquarter at Diyungbra.

Expressing great pleasure, Mayan Krmprai, former Chairman and also former executive member of N C Hills Autonomous Council offered his heartfelt thanks to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

He said they have been approaching the Government with the plea to create a civil sub-division since 1986 under the banner of Diyungbra Jalairaoni Hosom.

Niranjan Hojai, Chief Executive Member of N C Hills Autonomous Council and MAC from Diyungbra also expressed his great satisfaction over the creation of new civil sub division in Diyungbra which was a long pending demand of the people of the area.

It may be mentioned that the district of Dima Hasao former N C Hills had got status of full-fledged district in 1972 with lone sub-division at Haflong and in 1986 the Maibang Sub- Division came up but it took at least 30 years to get this Diyungbra Civil Sub- Division. But the people of Garampani who had also been demanding for the creation of Civil Sub-Division since 1980 with second largest population of the district and strategic location etc have failed to get their demand fulfilled.
