Dimasa students submit memo to Education Minister Barkotoky

HAFLONG, May 2: The Dimasa Students' Union (DSU) submitted a memorandum to State Education Minister Sarat Bartoky demanding to solve educatiol problems of Dima Hasao district recently when the minister visited Haflong to attend the programme of 64th Foundation Day of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council. The memorandum which was signed by DSU president Thalendra Dibragede and general secretary Amol Daolagajao urged the Education Minister for setting up of a University and a Girls Degree College at Haflong besides a B.Ed. College in Dima Hasao.

"The establishment of University at Haflong in Dima Hasao was a long pending demand and even today it remained merely a dream of the people of the district," stated the memorandum.

"The DSU urged the Education Minister to fill up the vacant post of non-teaching staffs at Haflong Govt College, improvement of boys' hostel, immediate appointment in the 29 vacant posts of teachers by giving preference to the existing contractual professors for the same besides setting up of a library at the college with well equipped facilities," stated the memorandum.
