Discussion on role of mghar held

Dibrugarh, Jan 20: A discussion on the theme of mghar and Assamese Society, was recently held at Bhekulajan village in Tengakhat area here wherein a 30-feet ‘doba’ (drum) was doted to the mghar, by jourlist Ratan Hazarika, in memory of his late father Bimal Hazarika. The event was addressed by litterateur and retired teacher of Tengakhat Higher Secondary School, Guneswar Sonowal, who attended the function as a chief guest. Attending the occasion as an appointed speaker, Mril Kumar Barua of Dibrugarh University said that mghar is the true symbol of representation of the Assamese people.  Barua further spoke on the substance of mghar, use, meaning and significance of doba and how it is related to our society.  He urged people to strengthen the Assamese society through mghar which may help in ‘elimiting the evils of hatred. Earlier, speaking at the event, Principal of Borborua Jamira Junior College, Monoranjan Hazarika, deliberated on the problems faced by the people of rural areas and lauded the benevolent act of the donor.
