'Dispur to preserve Kushal Konwar's house'

GUWAHATI, June 15: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal on Wednesday announced that his government would preserve the house of Swahid Kushal Konwar and renovate the road that leads to the house of the martyr at Balijan near Sarupathar in Golaghat district.

Speaking on the death anniversary function of Swahid Kushal Konwar at Nehru Park, Chief Minister Sonowal said that Swahid Kushal Konwar, who had wholeheartedly dedicated himself in the country’s freedom struggle and sacrificed his life, needed highest degree of obeisance from everybody. Leading the State in paying rich tribute to this great son, Sonowal  said that his government would do everything for preserving the house of the martyr.

Reiterating his government’s commitment to value the sacrifice of Kushal Konwar and look after his lineage, Sonowal said that his (Kushal Konwar’s) contribution to India’s freedom movement curved a niche for the State in the tiol landscape.  Chief Minister Sonowal said, “Kushal Konwar inspired us to value honesty, morality and humanity and he exemplified his love for the tion through his valour and sacrifice.” Sonowal also attended an all-faith prayer meeting held on the occasion where Jamu Konwar, daughter-in-law of Kushal Konwar, other freedom fighters and senior citizens were present. Guwahati Mayor Mrigen Sarania, Dispur MLA Atul Bora, Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner Dr. M. Angamuthu, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
