GUWAHATI, July 20: At a time when prices of essential commodities are rising at the whims and fancies of traders across the State, the Kamrup (M) district administration is waking up to initiate some regulatory measures, though late. Altogether five different teams comprising its officials and officials of the Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs are stepping up measures check prices of essential commodities in and around the city. Visiting various markets across Guwahati, the teams will scrutinize the prices, particularly the prices of potato and onion. The objective is to regulate reasonable prices on all these commodities. Notably, each team is headed by an executive magistrate.
