District administration of Cachar releases final electoral rolls

Silchar: The district administration of Cachar led by Laya Madduri, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, released the final electoral roll on Wednesday at her conference hall here. According to the data presented by the district administration, 11,89,667 voters have been included in the final electoral roll. Out of these 11,89,667 voters, 6,13,236 are male voters, 5,76,353 are female voters and 78 voters belong to other category i.e. the third gender. As many as 4,207 ‘D’ voters have been identified so far from all the 7 LACs in the district of Cachar. Out of these 4,207 ‘D’ voters, 278 numbers of ‘D’ mark have been withdrawn as per the judgment of the Foreigner Tribunal.

Laya Madduri urged upon all the political parties and mediapersons to disseminate the messages among the masses to step up and respond to the enrollment and updation process which starts from February 7. She added to say that for a healthy democracy, a healthy, error free and correct electoral roll should be made. Sudeep Nath, Election Officer, said that the correction and the rectification could also be done till the last date for filling of nominations. He also requested all political parties to appoint BLOs at booth level immediately. He informed that 37,360 new voters have been included through the special summary revision since the month of September 2018.

In the same special summary revision, 8,363 names have been deleted from the electoral roll and 4,666 names have been corrected so far. nvsp.in is the site on which people can check their status on the electoral rolls, informed Sudeep Nath. There are different forms for different purposes. Form 6 for addition or inclusion of names, Form 7 for deletion and Form 8 for correction. Both Laya Madduri and Sudeep Nath said that NRC has nothing to do with electoral roll. For voting, it is mandatory to have one’s name in the electoral roll. Moreover, steps will be taken to smoothen the process so that an error free and healthy electoral roll comes out, pointed out Laya Madduri.

Haflong: The Electoral Registration Officer, 16-Haflong (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency, has informed that the list of amendments to the Draft Photo Electoral Roll for 16-Haflong (ST) LAC has been published and will be available for inspection at the office of the Electoral Registration Officer, 16-Haflong (ST) LAC. The list of amendment to the draft photo electoral roll has been prepared with reference to 1.1.2019 as the qualifying date and in accordance with registration of Electors Rule,1960.
