District administration takes measures to counter militant threat

SHILLONG, May 4: The District Administration of South West Garo Hills has taken serious note of the renewed threat to the public transporters by the GNLA. Taking cognizance of the fresh threat by the militant outfit that had affected the movement of the people, especially the students in the district in general and Ampati in particular, Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh said the district administration, which has the full support of the people of Ampati, has decided requisition of sufficient number of buses and ply them under security through different routes across the district. He said all the departments have been directed to continue with their programmes, projects and other civil works and to approach the district administration for any kind of support. Help desks have also been set up both in the office of the Deputy Commissioner (8135873854) and Ampati Police Station (9856090310) for the convenience of the people. The district police have strengthened mobile patrolling in the Garo Hills area.
