DM's directive for a dust-free highway

Itagar, April 7: In view of 'irksome' environmental pollution affecting the commuters owing to ongoing construction works for the four-laning of NH-415, the Capital Complex District Magistrate has, vide an order, directed the concessioire, TK Engineering Consortium Pvt Ltd to sprinkle water at regular intervals every day along the highway from Papu llah to Vivek Vihar (Itagar) where construction activities are being taken up, by engaging sprinkling vehicles between 10 am to 12 noon, 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm.

It further stated that any violation of this order shall be viewed seriously and the Project Mager, TK Engineering Consortium Pvt Ltd shall be held responsible and action will be taken as per various provisions of law.

The DM's strong order came after it was observed that due to earth cutting and other construction activities by the concessioire TK Engineering, the environment has been polluted with increased presence of dust  and other particles, causing inconvenience to the denizens.

The order further stated that it is apprehended that increased presence of dust and other particles may affect public health and may endanger human life.

The DM directed the SP, Capital, EACs of Itagar and harlagun and OCs of Itagar and harlagun PS to persolly monitor the same and a report in this regard to be submitted to his office by the concerned EACs.
