Do not Rename Kangthilangso Waterfall as Abhi-Neel Waterfall: Karbi Student Association

Hamren: The Karbi Student Association (KSA) held a press conference meeting at Diphu Press Club on Monday regarding the issue of changing the name of Kangthilangso Waterfall into Abhi-Neel waterfall by the Assam government. An unfortunate incident of mob lynching had taken place at Panjuri Kacharis village in Karbi Anglong which shook the entire state. On June 8, two Assamese youths, Abhijit Nath and Nilotpal Das, were lynched to death by an irate mob which had mistaken them for child lifters.

Since then there have been demands to change the name of Kangthilangso waterfall to Abhi-Neel waterfall but the KSA was not happy with it. The KSA leaders said that the Puja committee of Guwahati Lakhimandir, Beltola was going to showcase the scenic beauty of Kangthilangso waterfall and it will supposedly change the name of the waterfall into Abhi-Neel waterfall. The KSA leaders recommended the Puja committee not to play dirty games over the unfortunate incident. They also urged all sections of the society not to repeat the issue as it would further create confusion and chaos among the communities.
