Golaghat, Feb 6: An angry mob vandalised a nursing home and attacked a doctor here after a woman died allegedly due to negligence of the doctor.

The patient’s family alleged that woman died because of the GBM Nursing Home’s negligence.

Sources said the family members of victim Merissa Begum of Kopohuwating area here contacted the GBM Nursing Home last night in Golaghat regarding the availability of doctors in the hospital in the night shift when the woman complained of severe chest pain and respiratory problem in the midnight. When the hospital staff gave a positive reply and advised Merissa Begum’s family members to have a checkup at the KK Civil Hospital in Golaghat and then to bring her to the Nursing home, they followed the same and accordingly at around 2 pm they reached GBM Nursing Home with the woman and approached physician Dr Dilip Rajbangsh for treatment of the woman, who was on duty during that time.

But Dr Rajbangshi who was the resident doctor in the nursing home allegedly refused to provide treatment to the woman, sources said.

Meanwhile the condition of the patient turned critical and she died inside the car in which she was brought to the nursing home.

Following the death of the woman, angry mob attacked Dr Rajbangshi alleging his negligence in treatment and vandalised the nursing home.

In the attack Dr Rajbangshi was seriously injured and he is now undergoing treatment in the nursing home.

The authorities of the Nursing home lodged a complaint against the attackers and demanded necessary actions as per rules.

Dr Rajbangsh was, however, not available for comments despite repeated attempts.
