Dog show held in Silchar

Silchar, Feb 13: Unique Kennel Society organized its 4th annual pet festival here on Sunday at Bipin Chandra Paul ground. The day and night festival was made lively and vibrant with the participation of 215 dogs of different breeds. Among them were Great Dane, Tibetan Mastiff, Golden Retriever, Labrador, German Shepherd Dog, Spitz, Coir Spaniel and Dorman. The judges on the occasion were Dr. Himadri Sen, joint director, veteriry department, Dr. Moloy Kanti th, also attached to the department, and Uday Shankar Goswami, known for his passion for pet. They closely monitored and watched the various activities of the dogs which included their movement, ability to jump, physical fitness and above all their response to the commands of the owners.

  All the participants with their dogs would be presented mementos in order to encourage and inspire them to take better care of their pets. The champion dog was awarded trophy as recognition of its all-round performance. A good number of pet-lovers were seen enjoying the dog show. Pankaj Paul, president, Rajshekhar Choudhury, secretary, and Abhijit Biswas, publicity secretary, expressed their thankfulness and gratitude to all the dog owners and lovers of pet-dogs for making the event a success. An added attraction of the event was the holding of musical chair competition, ramp-walk and hurdle race among the participating dogs. This evinced keen interest among the dog lovers and watchers in general who simply were dismayed by the various pranks of the dogs.
