Don Bosco teams bag champion & runners up trophies in quiz contest

Silchar, March 29: Rotaract Club of Hailakandi in collaboration with Assam Science Society,Hailakandi recently organised Rotaract Mastermind-the Inter Barak Valley Quiz Competition in Women’s College auditorium, Hailakandi.

Total 60 groups from different schools and colleges of Barak Valley took part in the event which was open for the students of class VIII to class XII.

The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest Father Nelson Joseph, the principal of Don Bosco School Silchar and the guest of honour Rtn.S.B.Dutta, the Past Assistant Governor of Rotary District-3240.

In the welcome address, the president of Rotaract club of Hailakandi Rtr.Swarup Roy welcomed all the guests, well wishers and the participants for their active participation. The chairman of the Rotaract Mastermind Rtr Harkishore Chanda emphasized the need of such competition to grow the competitive attitude among the students. Moreover, the chairman on behalf of Rotaract Club of Hailakandi presented memento to the Principal of Don Bosco and Rtn S.B.Dutta for their contribution in their respective fields.

The principal of Don Bosco in his lecture laid stress on the interaction among the students of different schools and share their learning with the motto “Each one teach one”.

The programme was also attended by the members of Assam Science Society, Hailakandi, Dr Rupam Sen, Prof. Debasish Guhathakuria, Rtn. Benulal Barman, Rtn. Pradip Potwa, Rtn. F.A. Mazumder, Charter President of Rotary Club of Hailakandi, Rtn. M.K. Das and Rtn. Preetiko Paul.

The quiz master Rtr.Aruva Ghosh conducted the prelimiry round where 12 groups have been selected for the semifil and then 6 teams have been qualified for the fil round.

Two teams from Don Bosco, Silchar bagged the champions and first runners up trophy. St.Mary’s School of Hailakandi secured the second runners up position. The programme was compered by Rotaract District Secretary and public relation officer Rtr Shankar Choudhury.
