Dorphang dares former KHADC chief to file case

A REPORTER

SHILLONG, Feb 16: Ex-chairman of the banned HNLC- turned politician Julius Dorphang dared the former KHADC chief Adelbert Nongrum to file a complaint against him in Court if he feels that the ex-HNLC leader is a murderer. Dorphang has also challenged him to an open debate.

It may be noted that Nongrum had questioned the state government and police department about the action taken against former militant leaders who are still roaming free in the state despite being involved in various murders.

Speaking to newsmen here today, Dorphang said, “If he (Nongrum) has any persol issues with me or with the Chief Minister he can always come forward and say it directly to me instead of making brash comments and if he believes that I’m a murderer then he should immediately go to the police or file a case against me in the Court.”

He said the thing which has offended him most is the comment made by Nongrum in which he dragged his me in the accident episode involving a Sumo and the vehicle in which Chief Minister Mukul Sangma was an occupant that took place at 3rd Mile in Upper Shillong.

“If he has something against me then he can file a complaint in the Court and let the Court decide if I’m really murderer or not but it’s not him who should give a judgment on me,” he said.

The former HNLC leader has also demanded that Nongrum should immediately clarify his comment.

“He should make it clear on what ground he has brought my me in an incident which is not even related to me,” he said adding that he is also ready to have an open debate with Nongrum on the mater.

When asked about the sedition charges brought against him while he was in the banned outfit, he said, “Till date I have not received any notice or complaint and if there are such charges then it’s the duty of the law department to bring it to my notice.”
