Double crown for Jigyashman and Sohini

GUWAHATI, June 8: Jigyashman Hazarika of Assam and Sohini of Odisha lifted double crown in the boys U-12 event of the AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament which concluded at the All Assam Tennis Association Complex, Chachal here today. In the singles Jigyashman got walk over against Manan Nath also from Assam. Manan could not play the finals due to injury. Earlier Jigyashman won the title of doubles with Manan yesterday. Sohini Sanjay Mohanty of Odisha won double crown by winning both the girls U-12 and U-14 singles titles.

It may be mentioned that the qualifying rounds of the AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament for boys and girls U-16 and U-18 years will start from June 9.

Final results : Boys U-12 singles final: Jigyashman Hazarika (AS) def 3rd seed Manan Nath (AS)(W/O). Boys U-14 singles final: Bhicky Sagolshem (MN) def Top seed Andy Thaosen (AS) 1-6, 7-6 (2), 6-1. Girls U-12 singles : Sohini Sanjay Mohanty (ODR) def 6th seed Snigdha Patibandla (AS). 6-3,6-2.Girls U-14 singles: Sohini Sanjay Mohanty (ODR) def Jyoti Pratap (BR) 6-0, 6-2.
