Downpour brings relief in Kokrajhar, Assam

Kokrajhar, July 20: A shower for a little over an hour in Kokrajhar that began at 3 in the afternoon on Friday brought a huge relief to the people of Kokrajhar from the scorching heat in the 38-40 degree Celsius range. A drought like situation has developed in the district since a few days in the absence of sufficient rain. In the absence of any irrigation system worth its salt, the paddy fields are beginning to dry up. Today’s shower was accompanied by wind but raining for an hour seemed to be insufficient. Reports have also been received from different places of the district of heavy downpour.
