Dr B Pakem Academic Excellence Awards presented

SHILLONG, June 12: The Khasi Students' Union NEHU Unit organized a function to confer the Dr. B. Pakem Academic Excellence Awards at the Community Center of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) on Friday. A panel discussion was also held on the topic "Challenges Confronting the Students of Meghalaya in the context of Competitive Examitions" which was chaired by Desmond Kharmawphlang.

KHADC chief P. N Syiem, in his address, urged the youths to work hard and excel in their studies and stressed the need for more local youths to hold administrative posts in various government departments.

A total of 14 gold medalists from NEHU were also felicitated by Syiem in presence of Auguster Jyrwa, general secretary of KSU. Ruth. Z. West Kharkongor, the first Khasi lady pilot, and Dukini Kyndiah, who cleared the UPSC exams in 2015, were also facilitated.

The consensus that came out from the panel discussion was on the need to set up a coaching center to train youths through resource persons skilled in various sectors so as to benefit the youths planning to prepare for various competitive exams.
